CONVEYING A STORY
Not only was I taught how to use a camera, but also the importance of the story that goes along with the image. Even as a photo editor, I continue to exercise the basics of AP Style rules and write informational, creative stories, captions, headlines, sub-headlines, and standout quotes.
FEATURED WORK
With all of my stories being published through the last two yearbooks, I have had my work displayed through another local magazine/newspaper GB Living. From there, the story is broadcasted all across the town of Grand Blanc for any person to read. I had a feature story about the local Fenton Polar Plunge that hosted nearly 250 jumpers and raised over $65,000 dollars towards Special Olympics Troop 13.

ONE MORE THING STORIES
Other stories and writing was included in the 2018-2019 yearbook, where I wrote several dominant stories about our students, telling stories about our classrooms, our clubs, our school, and even to our past selves.
My first ever dominant module on a spread, I had the chance to cover the students in my own class, photographing them while in the process of making their innovation projects. I interviewed the teacher, several students from different groups, and the original idea-maker of the whole project, another teacher who wanted to transform education into something much more than just textbook knowledge.

Our larger personality profiles consisted of future letters to different people, I was able to cover one of my best friends in her dreams for herself. The interview was re-written in a form so it would be conceded as a letter, like they wrote it themselves. This was a new style of writing, since the majority of the book was featured in the third person view, rather than first person. It was an interesting concept and made for unique storytelling.

I was fortunate enough to travel with the marching band to photograph and be present in the moments before the competition started. It was a surreal moment, there were strict times to practice, rules to follow on and off the field, and even blocked off space for them to practice in the parking garage.

Even with a few members, our debate team was highly ranked in our county. I was able to travel with them to their meet in Frankenmuth, going in blind as to what debate kids do, but coming out a new woman, knowing the in's and out's of what competitions consist of and how it all works.

The very last section in our book was dedicated towards students' former selves. This page showcases the deeper pasts that these students struggled to cope with at first, but now have learned to accept it and bring advice to their younger selves. It got me to connect with these students, and even my friend, on a much deeper level.
